I know I’m a little late to the conversation on The Housemaid series, but sometimes a book finds you at exactly the right time. This series has been on my radar for a while, and after finally diving in, I can absolutely understand why so many readers were hooked.

The Housemaid series is a psychological thriller collection filled with secrets, manipulation, unreliable characters, and the kind of twists that make you rethink everything you thought you knew. While each book brings its own storyline and surprises, the first book was definitely the one that grabbed my attention the most. There is something about the originality of the premise and the way the tension slowly builds that made it stand out. The first experience of discovering the truth behind the characters and the situation felt the most exciting because there was so much mystery surrounding it.

That being said, the rest of the series still brought its own flare. Each book continued to explore themes of trust, survival, power, and the lengths people will go to protect their secrets. The twists kept the momentum going, and I found myself wanting to know what would happen next — which is exactly what a good thriller should do.

The character that really carried the series for me was Millie. She is such an interesting main character because she isn’t written as the typical perfect heroine. She is complicated, flawed, determined, and shaped by her past experiences. Throughout the series, I found myself constantly questioning her choices while also understanding why she reacted the way she did. What makes Millie compelling is that she is both vulnerable and resilient. She has moments where you want to protect her, moments where you question her judgment, and moments where you are completely impressed by her ability to survive difficult situations.

A few key characters that stood out:

Millie – The heart of the series. Her story is really about survival, rebuilding, and figuring out who she can trust. She keeps readers guessing because there is always more beneath the surface.

Nina – A character who brings a lot of complexity to the first book. Her role creates much of the tension and keeps the reader questioning what is real and what is carefully staged.

Andrew – A character who represents the darker side of appearances versus reality. His storyline plays heavily into the psychological elements of the series and shows how easily people can hide behind a carefully created image.

Overall, The Housemaid series was an entertaining thriller ride. The first book remains my favorite because it had that fresh, unexpected feeling that is hard to recreate once the mystery has been revealed. But the entire series does a great job of keeping readers engaged with dramatic reveals, complicated characters, and plenty of moments where you think you have everything figured out — only to realize you probably don’t.

If you enjoy psychological thrillers with fast pacing, big twists, and characters who aren’t always what they seem, this series is definitely worth picking up. It’s the kind of series where you tell yourself “just one more chapter”… and suddenly you’re halfway through the book.
